Call for host
We are now calling for bids to host future European Marine Biology Symposia (link the text), continuing its tradition of rotating locations across Europe. New hosts are particularly encouraged. We are happy to share our experience from previous symposia to support prospective organisers.
The symposium typically attracts 200-300 attendees over 3 days. Given that a significant portion of participants are early career professionals, cost-efficiency is crucial. This can be achieved by choosing affordable venues, such as university campuses, and providing a range of accommodation options. The registration fee usually covers the refreshments and lunch, sometimes some venue and organizational costs, with local host staff often volunteering their time.
Field trips showcasing the local marine environment are encouraged.
While the timing of the event is flexible, it’s important to avoid overlap with similar events.

The host has discretion over the program, which may include special themes or sessions. Presentations generally cover marine biology, oceanography, conservation, resource management, ecosystem health, and related topics.
EuroMarine will assist with website management, communications, and planning. Euromarine network can serve as a platform to support the organisation and dissemination of the symposium. The Secretariat is available to assist with coordination efforts and communications.

Bids should be submitted as a single PDF to Eirini Apazoglou eirini@euromarinenetwork.eu and include the following details:
